HIGH LIGHTS
On Sunday, 26 August 2012 at 20.00 Central Indonesian Time (UCT+8), Mount Soputan was exploded, followed with the second explosion at 23.00 Central Indonesia Time (UCT+8+) that affected 11 villages (Ranoketang Tua, pondos, Elusan, Tewesen, Wakan, Kumelembuai, Kumulembuai I, Picuan, Picuan I, Wanga, and Wanga Amongena) in East Amurang Sub-district, South Minahasa District, North Sulawesi Province.
The Mount Soputan produced materials, such as ashes and debris with unpredicted height of its explosion due to the time of incident that was happened at night. There are 12,071 persons that live at risk near the volcano. It status is increasing from level 2 (vigilant) to level 3 (ready)
As per 27 August 2012 at 12.00 Western Indonesian Time (UCT +8), Center for Health Crisis Ministry of Health reported that there were no casualties or damages from the explosion;
The South Minahasa DHO conducted assessment on site and distributed masks to the Soputan affected communities, also coordinated with the Regional CHC North Sulawesi;
The South Minahasa DHO, North Sulawesi PHO, Regional CHC North Sulawesi, and Center for Health Crisis MOH are monitoring the situation closely.
