Measles have broken out in the whole of the southern districts due to non availability of anti measles vaccines in the whole region including Bannu, Miranshah, South Waziristan, Karak and Lakki Marwat. Inside sources in health department at Bannu told The Daily Frontier Post on the condition of anonymity that about 80 minors are brought to the women and children hospital on daily basis who are suffering from acute state of measles.
When contacted a doctor at Women and children Hospital, he confirmed and said most of the children were brought to the hospital in almost serious conditions.
"If you don't vaccinate your minors against the deadly diseases like measles, diphtheria, tetanus and typhoid etc, they are likely to fell prey to any one of these or some of them which can prove dangerous to them" Said the doctor not to be named as he was not authorized to speak to media on his own accord.
He also revealed that many of them die due to severity of the diseases.
He also declared that there were no vaccines available in the hospital or even in the centers established for this purpose.
A local Inamullah carrying his two years young child in his arms told that he had visited every center and the vaccination room in the hospital but he couldn't succeed to get his child vaccinated.
Similarly another local Shakir Ali also complained of non availability of vaccines against the deadly diseases prevalent in the children of the above cited areas. In this connection EDO health Dr.Nek Nawaz Khan told that the people were telling lies and vaccines were available every where including hospital.
The agency Surgeon Miranshah was also called via telephone to know his stand over the non availability of vaccines but he nobody picked up phone but reports from North Waziristan often tells that the area is in severe grip of the diseases like polio, measles, and diphtheria etc but the resident complain that there were no vaccines available in the whole of North Waziristan Agency.
