1 . In view of worsening humanitarian crisis in Yemen due to continuous anti-government protests and battles since January, 2011, the government of the Republic of Korea has decided to provide humanitarian aid worth US$500,000 to Yemen.
- Yemen requested the international community to provide about 16 billion dollars to ease humanitarian crisis. 6.4 billion dollars out of the 16 billion has been secured, but additional 5.6 billion dollars are still in need. (The Yemeni government secured 4 billion dollars on its own.)
2 . The humanitarian aid from the ROK government will support health and education programs for the poor, women and children in Yemen.
3 . Previously, the ROK government provided US$800,000 to Yemen in May through the UN Consolidated Appeal Process and Yemen Emergency Response Fund.
