On April 22, Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone Mr. Fan Xiaodong held a reception to bid farewell to the 15th batch of Chinese medical team and welcome the 16th Batch of Chinese medical team. Deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation Hon. Dr. Abubakarr Fofanah, Director of Kingharman Road Hospital Dr. Amadu Sesay, members of the two medical teams as well as journalists from SLBC, Awoko, Concord Times and other media organizations attended the reception.
In his speech, Mr. Fan spoke highly of the contribution the 15th medical team has made on the health development of Sierra Leone and the promotion of bilateral relations, and reaffirmed China's commitment to further expanding health cooperation between China and Sierra Leone. He encouraged the doctors of the 16th medical team to inherit the working ethics and professionalism from their predecessors to make greater contribution to the strengthening of China-Sierra Leone friendship.
Deputy minister Fofanah, on behalf of the Government of Sierra Leone, expressed his appreciation to the Chinese Government on the selfless assistance rendered to the health sector of Sierra Leone. He thanked doctors of the 15th medical team for their hard work on healing the ills as well as teaching medical skills over the two years, and said that their professionalism and medical skills had won praise and respect from the people of Sierra Leone.
At the end of the reception, Deputy minister Fofanah awarded certifications of acknowledgement to the ten members of the 15th Chinese medical team in appreciation of their service to the people of Sierra Leone.
