India has provided an assistance of NRs 43.39 million for the construction of school building in Palpa district on Wednesday.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Wedneday between the Embassy of India, Kathmandu, District Development Committee, Palpa and Shree Rambha Higher Secondary School for providing the Indian grant assistance of NRs. 43.39 million for the construction of a three - storied school building under Nepal-India Economic Cooperation Programme, according to a statement issued by the Embassy.
This is the sixth development project in the Palpa District being undertaken with the Indian assistance under Small Development Projects.
Established in 1952, Shree Rambha Higher Secondary School is situated at Tahun VDC in Palpa District, Western Development Region of Nepal. The catchment area of the school is also spread to Humin, Devinagar, Foksingkot, Pipaldanda, Heklang, Jalpa and Birkot VDCs of Palpa District.
Its existing infrastructure is dilapidated and inadequate to accommodate the students. The new building being constructed with Indian grant assistance will help in creation of better facilities for over 1100 students, about 57% of whom are girls, and would create an improved environment for learning and contribute to the development of the education in the District.
In addition to this school, two projects in Palpa District have already been completed with Indian assistance of NRs. 25.3 million. Further, work is ongoing for another three projects at a cost of NRs. 97.24 million.
India has also gifted six ambulances and one school bus in the District. nepalnews.com
