Some 49 NGOs have undertaken various development projects in North Shoa Zone of Amhara State with over 230 million Birr in 2012, the zonal finance and economic development department said. The department told ENA on Wednesday that the projects are mainly in the areas of health, education, agriculture, capacity building and safe water provision, among others. The projects carried out in 22 woredas and five urban administrations in the zone benefited more than 1.2 million people. It said the NGOs are significantly contributing in the efforts of the government to speed up development.
