Alight monsoon spell is expected in the northern areas including Islamabad from September 14 night/ September 15 with strong winds, according to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

So far, according to NDMA report of 14th September 2012, the 2012 monsoon rains have caused 217 deaths and 654 people got injured in 51 districts all over the country.

PRCS is responding in Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan with an initial plan to assist 7,500 families in all with food, non food items, emergency shelter and health and care services. In Sindh five PRCS health units have already started working and disaster preparedness stocks are being sent to the affected districts for distribution. In Punjab assessment teams are on the field and have identified safe areas with the local authorities for displaced people and pre-positioned disaster preparedness stocks are being mobilized. In Balochistan relief and health teams are ready but the worst affected districts Jafferabad and Nasirabad are still inaccessible so coordination is ongoing.
